How to Get Over a Crush

<3
<3

Ah, crushing hard on somebody you know you can’t have — it knocks your self-esteem and confidence, can make you feel lonely and can be a source of emotional turmoil, but rest assured, you are not alone. We’ve all been there. Yes, even Olivia Rodrigo. So, blast You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift on volume 10 and let’s talk.

9th Grade, mid-July, brown eyes and fluffy hair. Need I say more? And he played basketball. Jeez the way I fell. I got my first crush. The universal way of saying the first guy I ever fancied. Fast forward to last day of 9th Grade he came up to me grinning cutely asking me to sign his slam book. My eyes scanned the lines written under my name “I think you are the coolest gril in class.” And yes, I laughed at his spelling. And if it isn’t apparent enough then let me tell you it was the last time we ever talked. Easier said than done but give these cures a try and find a remedy for your broken heart.

Vent it out

Girl, grab your best friend or your mom or anybody you are comfortable with and just vent it all out. Talk about his perfect eyes that you love so much but also talk about how much you are hurting. Once you are done venting, commit to letting go.

Their loss, never yours

I live by this mantra I swear. Know your worth! A boy who is ruining your expensive mascara is honestly not worth it. Come on! If that guy was your soulmate, he would want you back.

Find the “ick “

Trust me once you find the ick you’ll be over them in seconds. Imagine them putting on a baby voice and chewing with their mouth open and there you go.

Don’t stalk

As queen Maddie says “Out of sight, out of mind“, however tough it may be do not stalk their socials for hours. Sure, you might have to see the object of your affection in your class, but why make the situation harder on yourself?

So delete, block, report and go watch your favourite Netflix show instead.

Listen to sad music

I know this sounds crazy but cry your heart out. Delve deep into those sad emotions and embrace them. Make a sad playlist and put it on repeat. Should I make a playlist for you guys? Let me know! Validate your emotions and accept how hurt you are. Once acceptance comes letting go becomes easy.

I know it seems like your world is shattering right now but time heals every wound and this shall pass too. With this, I’ll go listen to my Lana Del Ray playlist and cry myself to sleep.
